Step 1: Unboxing and Site Preparation

⚠️ : Use the packaging to rest the finished surfaces on to prevent scratching on concrete.

1. Loosen screws on the door latches using a 5/64 allen wrench allowing the latches to rotate inwards. DO NOT REMOVE THE SCREWS. Open the door.
2. Undo the silver safety screws, then press the latch release and pull the roll out.
   • ⚠️ : Make sure to put the Fabric Roll on a protected surface.

Step 2: Bracket Installation

⚠️ : Before you start, ensure the screws or anchors used are of the proper quantity, size, and type compatible with the structural substrate and rated for the weight being carried (refer to shipping documents or the box label).

⚠️ : If Ceiling Mounting, Brackets are optional, See Step 4b for Thru-bolting the Cassette

1. Install Wall Mount Brackets:

   • Secure brackets to structural supports using appropriate fasteners.

   • Position brackets 4–6" from each end of the opening.

   • Mount additional brackets (if included) equally spaced between the outer brackets to prevent cassette sag.

   • Align and level all brackets.

   • Use two brackets for shades up to 18' wide; use three brackets for shades wider than 18'.

Step 3: Power Wire Preparation

⚠️: Installation must follow all local electrical codes when working with 110v AC power, use a certified electrician when necessary.

⚠️: All KAOS shades have an internal disconnect and ships disconnected. Before running the shade, open the shade door and complete the connection.

1. Prepare the Power Wire
   • Ensure the power wire is secured through the cassette on the side that will be the final termination side.
   • Make sure these wires are secured so that they will not be damaged during installation of the cassette.

Step 4a: Cassette Installation using Brackets

⚠️: Cassette installation requires two or more people and/or hoisting equipment. Always use safe lifting and rigging techniques.

✅: Ensure that the fabric roll with the tube is uninstalled before mounting the empty cassette.

1. Lift the cassette straight up and hook it onto the installed brackets.
   • Once engaged, the cassette should “click” into place.

Step 4b: Thru-Bolting the Cassette (Ceiling Mount Only)

⚠️: Be careful not to over torque or aggressively drill retention hardware when mounting the cassette because deformation to the case could occur, this is especially important when ceiling mounting as cassette deformation will make it difficult or impossible to attach the front removable section. The structure behind the mounting points should be flat and level.

⚠️: Select a screw or anchor type with a shallower head profile to prevent contact with the shade material roll. Material damage caused by anchoring is not covered under warranty.

✅: Before installation, ensure that the screws or anchors used are appropriate in quantity, size, and type for the structural substrate they will be mounted to. They should also be rated to support the required weight, which can be found on the shipping documents or the box label.

Step 5: Fabric Roll Installation

1. Rest the bottom/weight bar on the 2 saw horses or small ladders.
   
   ✅: Best Practice
   In the absence of saw horses, you can rest the weight bar on the ground—use some of the packaging to prevent scratching on the finished surfaces.
   
   
2. Completely unroll the fabric until you are working with the bare aluminum tube.
3. Note the motor side and idler side.
   
   ✅:  Best Practice
   - The idler plate can easily fall off laterally.
   - The motor plate is secured on.
   - Position the brackets so that they will be in the correct orientation for installation.
   
   
   
   
4. Position both sides under the cassette and push up into the cassette simultaneously on the left and right.
   
   ⚠️: If one side goes in first, it can be difficult to get the other side in.
   ⚠️: An audible click is heard when the shade is secured.
   
   
5. Fasten the silver safety screws on the mounting plates to secure the material roll
   
   ⚠️: PRO Tip: Once the tracks are installed, accessing the latch mounting point and threading the screw can be challenging due to limited space. To simplify the process, we recommend loosely installing the latch before mounting the tracks. This allows you to close the door, swing the latch into position, and then tighten the screw using a ball-end hex key for easier access.

Step 7: Measuring and Cutting the Tracks

⚠️: Tracks are labeled as Left and Right on the top side of the tracks.

⚠️: The top of the tracks is indicated by the black “Kedar Feeder” and the removable “Bumper.”

⚠️: To identify the Left/Right of the cassette: You want to be looking at the shade so the fabric is rolling off the back of the roll.

1. Measure the distance from the bottom of the case to the floor.
2. Subtract 1/2” from that measurement—this is the length the tracks need to be cut.
3. Remove the bottom cap from each track.
4. Cut the track to the length from Step b, trimming only the bottom end of the track (do not cut the top).

✅: Track Cut Length = (Distance from bottom of case to floor) – 1/2”

⚠️: Make sure to cut only the bottom end of the track to this length.

⚠️: Eye protection is required!

✅: Repeat this process for each track. Only cut one at a time — cut then install — to prevent tracks from being mixed up and to maintain progress.

Step 8: Installing the Tracks

1. Predrill the U-channel:
   • 2 holes for TOP, MIDDLE and BOTTOM.
   • 1 hole every 12 inches in spacing Attach the U-Channel beneath the housing, ensuring it is aligned with the back of the housing.
     
     
     
     
2. Secure the U-channels on both sides using the appropriate screws.
   
   
3. Tuck each end of the weight bar into the U-channel.
   
   
4. With the weight bar inside the U-channel, roll the material up until it’s about 12” from the top of the U-channel.
   
   
   
5. Slide the V-tracks at an angle into the U-channels.
6. While doing this, manually lift the weight bar to insert the keder into the V-track, ensuring the wheels are aligned within the V-track.
   
   
7. Ensure the wheels are correctly positioned and properly aligned with the track for smooth operation.

Step 9: Securing the Tracks

⚠️: Before securing the track, lower and raise the screen twice to assist with proper positioning of the track. Move the weight bar to the position you intend to secure the track. Screws should be positioned every 24 inches.

1. Place the track jig on the back of the U-channel, align it with the edge of the track, mark the position, and drill a hole 1.5” deep.
   
   
   
   
2. Secure the track to the U-channel using 1 1/2” flanged screws.
   
   
   
   
3. Install the wheel stopper as shown in the illustration to prevent the wheel system from coming off the tracks.

Step 10: Fine Tuning and Track Management

1. Fine tune the upper and lower limits.
   • Refer to the Motor Programming Guide.

2. Check the shade for level and the tracks for plum to ensure the fabric is rolling without telescoping or binding.

Best Practices Summary

1. Tools & Hardware
   • Use application-specific fasteners (Headlok or TORX lag screws recommended).
   • Ensure your miter saw blade is appropriate for cutting aluminum.
2. Bracket Installation
   • For inside mount, verify upper corners have enough clearance for the cassette and end caps.
3. Cassette Installation
   • Always remove the fabric roll from the cassette before mounting it.
   • For bracket less (top) mounts, use shallower head screws/anchors and avoid over-torquing.
4. Fabric Roll Installation
   • Confirm correct orientation of motor and idler sides.
5. Measuring and Cutting
   • Deduct 1/4” from the baseline for the shade track and 1/8” for the U-Channel.
   • Cut one track at a time, then install immediately to maintain accuracy.
6. Track Installation
   • Achieve slight tension when installing the second track to ensure proper fabric alignment.

Troubleshooting

Issue	Possible Cause	Solution
Shade won’t fully raise or lower	Motor programming limits are off.	Reset the motor and reprogram upper/lower limits
	Shade isn’t level	Re-level the cassette and verify bracket positions.
	Guide wheels not aligning in V-channel track	Adjust the guide wheels for proper placement within the track.
	Tracks wedge in or out	Confirm they are perfectly straight/level; adjust mounting as needed.
Shade gathering to one side		Offset the tracking by adding “shimming” tape on the opposite side of the fabric roll. Example: If shade gathers left, add thick tape on the right side.

Step 1: END CAP INSTALLATION

1. Verify your order to confirm the correct side for the motor before installing the corresponding end cap.
   
   
2. Refer to the illustrated instructions for proper mounting, whether for a ceiling or wall installation.

3. Attach an end cap to each end of the housing using the three provided self-tapping screws.

Step 2: Housing Installation

1. Use a drill with the appropriate bit size to pre-drill holes, considering the type of surface where the unit will be installed.
   
   
2. ⚠️ : Drill holes through the cassette to accommodate the power cord, and use the grommet to protect the cable from damage.
   
3. Position the back part of the housing at the desired location.
   
4. Secure the housing in place with the appropriate screws, based on mounting surface material.
   
   
5. Secure the housing in place with the appropriate screws, based on mounting surface material.

Step 3: U-Channel Installation

1. Measuring and Cutting U-Channels and Tracks:
2. Measure the distance from the ground surface to the bottom of the cassette.
   • Based on that measurement, cut the U-channels and tracks to be 1/4” shorter.
   • ⚠️: Important: Only cut from the bottom section of the track
     
     
3. ⚠️: Pre-drill the U-channel:
   • 2 holes for TOP, MIDDLE and BOTTOM.
   • 1 hole every 12 inches in spacing Attach the U-Channel beneath the housing, ensuring it is aligned with the back of the housing.
4. Secure the U-channels on both sides using the appropriate screws.

Step 4: Material Roll Installation

1. To make this step easier, support the weight bar as shown below while you proceed with the installation.
   
2. With the weight bar resting on the support, begin unwinding the shade material.
3. Manage the cable through the rubber grommet.
4. Attach the motor head to the motor bracket and secure it using the provided clip.
   
   
5. Insert the Idler into its bracket and secure it with the provided pin.
6. Align the shade material so the Keder hangs over the edge of the outer tube.
7. Confirm that the shade is centered, and secure it using the provided screws.

Step 6: Track Installation

1. Roll the screen up leaving about 6-8" of material.
   
2. Tuck each end of the weight bar into the U-channel.
3. With the weight bar inside the U-channel, roll the material up until it’s about 12” from the top of the U-channel.
   
4. Slide the V-tracks at an angle into the U-channels. While doing this, manually lift the weight bar to insert the keder into the V-track, ensuring the wheels are aligned within the V-track.

   

5. Ensure the wheels are correctly positioned and properly aligned with the track for smooth operation.
   
   

   
   
   

   
   
   
6. Install the wheel stopper as shown in the illustration to prevent the wheel system from coming off the tracks.

Step 7: Tube Adjustment

• To adjust or un-level material:
  1. Unroll the shade material until the leveling tube screws are visible.
  2. Loosen the screws and adjust the slider as needed.

Step 8: Securing the Track

⚠️: Before securing the track, lower and raise the screen twice to assist with proper positioning of the track. Move the weight bar to the position you intend to secure the track. Screws should be positioned every 24 inches.

1. Place the track jig on the back of the U-channel, align it with the edge of the track, mark the position, and drill a hole 1.5” deep.
   
   
   
   
2. Secure the track to the U-channel using 1 1/2” flanged screws. (not included)

Step 9: Cover Installation

1. Install the cover and secure it using two of the provided end cap screws.
2. One screw for each end.
3. ⚠️:Do not over tighten the screws

⚠️: NOTE: If the external cover screw holes are inaccessible, use the cover jig to assist in locating the internal cover screw holes.

⚠️: If the cover jig tabs do not fit between the end of the cassette and the wall, break them off. Gently work the plastic tabs back and forth until they detach completely.
