Complete installation instructions for KAOS V1 outside mount configuration
Version Identification: This guide covers KAOS V1 (Legacy) units ordered before 3/4/25. V1 features 4 screws for end cap attachment, 2 center screws for motor/idler attachment, and integrated brackets on end caps.
Step 1: End Cap Installation
- Verify motor side: Confirm your order to identify the correct side for the motor before installing the corresponding end cap.
-
Reference mounting diagrams: Refer to the illustrated instructions for proper mounting, whether for ceiling or wall installation.
- Secure end caps: Attach an end cap to each end of the housing using the three provided self-tapping screws.
Step 2: Housing Installation
- Pre-drill holes: Use a drill with the appropriate bit size to pre-drill holes, considering the type of surface where the unit will be installed.
-
Warning: Drill holes through the cassette to accommodate the power cord, and use the grommet to protect the cable from damage.
- Position housing: Position the back part of the housing at the desired location.
-
Warning: The position may vary depending on the desired location of the weight bar when fully open.
- Secure housing: Secure housing with the appropriate screws.
Step 3: Material Roll Installation
-
Support weight bar: To make this step easier, use a sawhorse or any object to support the weight bar of the shade while you proceed with the installation.
-
Connect motor: Manage the cable through the rubber grommet. Attach the motor head to the motor bracket and secure it using the provided clip.
-
Install idler: Insert the Idler into its bracket and secure it with the provided pin.
- Align material: Align the shade material so the Keder hangs over the edge of the outer tube.
- Center and secure: Confirm that the shade is centered, and secure it using the provided screws.
Step 4: Motor Programming
- Program motor: Once the tube is secured in place, use the remote control to roll up the shade material.
Step 5: Track Installation
-
Measuring and Cutting Tracks:
- Measure the distance from the ground surface to the bottom of the cassette.
- Based on that measurement, cut the tracks to be 1/4" shorter.
-
Important: Only cut from the bottom section of the track.
-
Insert wheel system: Carefully slide the wheel system into the tracks at a slight angle.
-
Align wheels: Ensure the wheels are correctly positioned and properly aligned with the track for smooth operation.
- Secure tracks: Secure both tracks using the appropriate screws.
- Screw spacing: Place one screw near the top and another near the bottom of each track, then space additional screws every 12 inches along the track.
-
Install track cover: Use a rubber mallet to gently snap the track cover into place.
- Install track stopper: Install the track stopper as shown in the illustration to prevent the wheel system from coming off the tracks.
Step 6: Tube Adjustment
- Access leveling screws: To adjust un-level material, unroll the shade material until the leveling screws at the tube slider are visible.
- Adjust slider: Loosen the screws and adjust the slider as needed.
Step 7: Cover Installation
-
Install front housing: Install the front housing and secure it using the provided screws.
- Secure flush: Screw down until it's flush with the end cap.
Tip: If the external cover screw holes are inaccessible, use the cover jig to assist in locating the internal cover screw holes.
Info: If the cover jig tabs do not fit between the end of the cassette and the wall, break them off. Gently work the plastic tabs back and forth until they detach completely.
Installation Complete: Congratulations! You have completed the installation of your KAOS V1 Outside Mount shade.
