1K PoE Switch: Installation Guide
Screen Innovations
Info: Engineered specifically for the Motorized Shade Industry, the 1K PoE Switch combines high-performance power delivery, streamlined efficiency, and outstanding value—all in one compact, game-changing device. Unlike traditional PoE switches that depend on bulky external power supplies, the 1K PoE features a built-in, silent, and cool-running power system.
Front Panel
The front panel consists of 24*10/100/1000Mbps adaptive RJ45 ports and 4*10Gbps SFP+ slots and related indicators:
-
10/100/1000Mbps RJ45 Ports:
- Supports 10Mbps, 100Mbps, or 1000Mbps rate adaptation, auto-MDI/MDIX, and each port has a corresponding indicator (port indicators 1-24).
-
10Gbps SFP+ Slots:
- SFP slots are independent SFP slots on the right of the panel. Each port has a corresponding indicator (indicators 25-28).
-
Reset Button:
- After holding the reset switch for 5 seconds, the initial state will be restored when the hand is released.
-
Console Port:
- The Console port is used to connect to the serial port of a computer or other terminal device to manage or configure the switch.
LED Indicator
The LED indicators allow you to monitor the work and running status of the switch conveniently and quickly:
Tip: Green PWR LED indicates normal operation. Orange PoE LEDs may indicate power overload - check your motor consumption against the switch's PoE budget.
Rear Panel
-
AC Power Port:
- The power input ranges from 100-240V AC at 50/60 Hz.
-
Lightning Protection Grounding Post:
- To prevent lightning strike damage to the switch, please use the wire grounding post next to the AC power port.
Installation Requirements
Warning: To avoid equipment damage and personal injury, observe the following precautions:
- The switch room should be dry and ventilated, free from corrosive gases and strong electromagnetic interference.
- The humidity of the switch equipment room should be lower than 90%.
- The grounding of the switch shall comply with the grounding requirements described in this manual.
- The switch voltage should be stable to prevent abnormal operation caused by power supply voltage mutation, fluctuation and other phenomena.
- Keep a proper distance between the switch and other devices.
- To avoid the danger of electric shock, do not open the chassis without authorization; If any fault occurs, contact support@shadeinnovations.com.
Important: Use a three-hole socket with safe grounding, and ensure that the PGND cable of the power socket is properly grounded. Ensure sufficient space for heat dissipation and ventilation of the switch.
Before installation, confirm the following requirements:
- Check cables and connectors required for installation are in place (less than 100m).
- Environment requirements: Operating temperature ranges from 0°C to 40°C and relative humidity ranges from 5% to 90%.
Desktop Installation
- Place the bottom of the switch face up on a large enough stable desktop.
- Attach the included footpads from the box to the bottom of the chassis; this will prevent external vibration.
- Carefully position the switch upright on the workbench.
- Check the grounding and stability of the installation location.
Rack Mounting
Warning: The rack mounting ears for this device are not used for bearing weight, they are only used for fixation. It is highly recommended to install the switch with a shelf underneath, or if applicable, using guide rails on the rack.
- Install the included rack mounting ears to both sides of the front panel of the switch using the provided screws.
- Mount the switch in the rack using appropriate support (shelf or rails).
Enabling the Switch
Warning: Before powering on the device, ensure that the voltage is correct; otherwise, the device may be damaged. (Power input range: 100-240V AC 50/60Hz).
- Connect the AC power cable to the rear panel power port.
- Plug into appropriate power source (100-240V AC 50/60Hz).
- The switch will automatically initialize after being plugged in.
- Monitor the PWR LED - it should show steady green for normal operation.
PoE Motor Consumption
SI Nino Motor:
- Power consumption: 30W
- Supported motors: 24
Somfy Sonnesse 40 Type 3 - 4 Nm:
- Power consumption: 60W
- Supported motors: 12
Tip: Calculate your total PoE consumption before connecting motors. The switch has a 720W total PoE budget - ensure your motor configuration doesn't exceed this limit.
