Wrinkle Removal & Troubleshooting
Applies to: Slate, Slate AT, Pure Gray & White, Pure Gray & White AT
Wrinkle Removal (4 Steps)
Step 1: Ensure Proper Tensioning
For Post systems: verify posts are secured from center outward. For Snap systems: check that all snaps are fully engaged.
Step 2: Apply Gentle Heat
Use a hairdryer on low or medium setting. Hold 12–18 inches from the back side of the material. Use circular motions across the wrinkled area.
Step 3: Allow Material to Relax
After applying heat, allow 12–24 hours for the material to settle. Maintain room temperature between 70–80°F.
Step 4: Check Frame
Verify the frame is perfectly square and rigid. An out-of-square frame can cause persistent wrinkles.
Impressions & Dents (3 Methods)
Method 1: Hairdryer + Microfiber
Apply gentle heat with a hairdryer while applying light circular pressure with a clean microfiber cloth on the affected area.
Method 2: Warm Room Method
Place the screen in a temperature-controlled room (75–80°F) for 24–48 hours. The material will gradually relax and the impression should diminish.
Method 3: Warm Damp Cloth
Lay a warm, damp cloth over the affected area. Reheat gently with a hairdryer to create steam that helps relax the material.
Fish Scaling
Fish scaling is caused by improper storage or incorrect rolling of the screen material. To fix:
- Use a garment steamer held at a safe distance from the material.
- Work in gentle, even passes across the affected area.
Care Tips
- Never iron the screen material.
- Avoid contact with sharp objects or fingernails.
- Store and transport the screen carefully — always roll, never fold.
- Maintain consistent temperature and humidity in the viewing room.
